CHALLENGE

StreetSmart 4 KIDS is a non-profit organization that works with San Francisco's restaurants to help the city's at-risk and homeless youth. They needed an identity launch that restaurants would accept on their tables as well as catch diner's eyes on the streets.

SOLUTION

StreetSmart 4 KIDS is modeled after the London-based program StreetSmart. We wanted to utilize the equity of their logo, but revise it for the U.S. program. A strong color palette was chosen to help stand out in busy restaurants and large knife and fork graphics were used to quickly communicate the program's relationship with food and eateries. We kept the design simple, clean and hip to attract restaurant's participation in displaying the program's materials.

RESULTS

The first year was a success and more than double of the expected restaurant participation was exceeded. The second year the program ran, the organization received increased straight donations as well as restaurant participation, along with the request from other cities wanting to duplicate the program. Additional advertising options became available as well, such as taxi tops, bus backs, movie theatre slides, TV spots and radio.
